As expecting parents, we have so many ideas in our heads about what parenting is going to be like. I would say 100% of all parents realize that these ideas are not accurate AT ALL once we actually become parents. With my oldest, I told myself she would only eat homemade organic baby food…she hated it! 😉 I told myself that my middle daughter would be a great sleeper – after her 4m sleep regression, she didn’t sleep through the night until she was 18 months. With my third, I thought I had it all figured out, she is now on a daily dose on antibiotics to prevent recurring bladder infections and has been to children’s hospital more times than I’ve been before as 7 years as a parent! I say all of this to say – after photographing more than 50 newborns, I still get ideas in my head…and when a parent tells me they really want a specific shot, I work really hard to get that shot…however, ultimately, the one in control is the baby! Jackson’s mom had two shots that she really wanted. I tried the first one 3 or 4 times, and it wasn’t happening, and the second one we spent probably 30 minutes working on it, and it didn’t happen either. Most photographers I know are extremely OCD and are perfectionists! I am one of them. I beat myself up over photography more than I do than anything else! It took me the rest of the day to recover from …
Last week, I went up to Wisconsin for a girl’s trip!! Every year, I get to see a few of my wonderful out of state friends. We make yearly trips to see each other. So far, we’ve been to New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, then Wisconsin (And they’ve been to Alabama, too!) Sometimes we bring our kids, sometimes its just moms trips, and sometimes (okay, once) they came to my wedding! We were sans one of our lovely girls Shayna in our group. Maybe next year she can come! Anyway…Heather is a photographer too (and has taken our family photos, has helped me out SO much starting my business, and has been such a great and supportive friend!) We had such a fun time and I just adore these girls. Here are a few of the family session I took for Heather, then one of the three of us! 🙂 Lane Weichman Photography Birmingham AL family photographer www.laneweichmanphotography.com
Meet Skylar, a beautiful baby girl! Mamma waited so long for her sweet girl! Skylar was such a dream baby and is SO adorable! I had such a great time meeting her mamma and getting to photograph them together. I just love mom shots with newborns! Lane Weichman Photography Birmingham AL newborn photographer
Can I tell you how excited I was to meet Ryder? He is absolutely perfect and he is a miracle! He was born a month early, and he has a wonderful story and testimony, already, at 2 weeks old. He was so great and he has the CUTEST head full of black hair! I wanted to keep him with me, but I like sleeping too much, so I let him go home with his mom. I just love these pictures! I had such a great time hanging out with this family! The Butlers are super laid back and easy to please! They have the most adorable little two year old, ever!! She made these poses all by herself! You can tell for sure that her mom and dad are in love with her! They giggled every time she started doing these silly poses! I really love being able to capture a two year old being a two year old! I also love two year olds that don’t run away from me! 😉 Sadie might not have been very fond of me, but I think she warmed up eventually and had fun too!
I met Tori back when her sister Carlye had me shoot her birth. We had an instant connection and chatted for hours while waiting on Tori’s nephew Tucker to arrive! I was so looking forward to this session with them and I’m so happy with how they turned out. The weather was perfect, the lighting was amazing and we picked a great location.
